Educated at Elizabeth College, 1846-53; College No. 857; joined
the House of Carey & Co., Alicante, Spain, 1853, where he remained
for seventeen years, becoming manager in 1860; Belgian Consul at
Alicante, 1860-70; retired to Guernsey, 1870; gazetted Lieut.-Colonel,
3rd Regiment, R.G.L.I., 1857; appointed A.D.C. to the Lieut.-Govornor
of Guernsey, 1860 and to each successive Governor until his death;
Constable, St Peter-Port, Guernsey, 1872-84, the longest record
of such service; Director of Elizabeth College, 1878-80 and 1889-93;
appointed H.M's Receiver-General for Guernsey in place of William
Brock, of Belmont, in 1885; Hon. Sec. Old Elizabethan Association,
1891.
