"In 1887 or '88, the Victoria Cottage Hospital was
added to our Institutions. The present handsome building had been erected
with funds bequeathed by Mr. Nicholas Carey, who had lived in the lower
part of the Rohais. It had been destined to continue the work of St.
John's Home for Orphans. So few cases presented themselves, however,
that it was afterwards agreed to use it as a hospital. Dr. Robinson
again was largely associated with the change, as he had for many years
desired such an innovation. No one will deny its usefulness and Mr.
Carey would have been the first to approve the new departure."
