Nicholas Careye was Constable of the St Peter-Port in 1700.
His name with that of James (F32) is to be seen on the Barrieres
de la Ville, one of which is next door to the Post office in
Smith Street.
On 25 Feb 1706, he is noted as un des pricipaux habitans de la
Ville on a committee to supervise some works on the Harbour, and
on 6 Sept 1708 agrees to be among a number to subscribe one third of
the expenses of a delegate to the Privy Council to protest against the
proposal to establish Custom-Houses in the Island as being contrary
to the privileges of the Island.
