Nicholas was buried in the North Chancel Aisle of the Town Church, where there is a ledger slab of pink granite to his memory.

(Here lies the body of Mr Nicholas Careye, owner of Blanchelande, who at the age of thirty-six years died in the year of Our Lord, the First of February 1674.)
