| Born in Wellington but early childhood spent in Blenheim. Joined William Cable & Co Ltd Kaiwharrawharra and served his time as an engineer. In 1918 he obtained his Marine Engineers Certificate. Was then employed by the Kelburn and Karori Tramways Company. In 1920 he was appointed Chief Engineer at W.D. & H.O. Wills ( Petone). Around 1927 he was transferred to Napier as a company representative for W.D.Wills for the Hawkes Bay Region. Returned to Lower Hutt in 1938. Was a well known and respected family in Wellington. He was a life member of the Wellington Rugby Football Club. He retired in 1945 and went to live in the King Country province on a farm owned by his wife's relative. He died there in 1948 aged 66 years. Wife Veti survived him and lived in Otorohanga until her death on 7th February 1966 at age 77 years. |
