Son of one of the many Huguenot refugees who moved to the islands during the religious persecutions. His father, Mathurin had been a large landholder at Vitre in Brittany.
Pierre Careye (A29) was his godfather.
Appointed as Lieutenant-Governor of Alderney on Nov 3, 1643 by Robert Russel, the Parliamentarian Lieutenant - Governor of Guernsey. He had special instruction as to the safeguarding of the Island against attack and to get rid of the ' Papists and Roman Catholics.' |
