Britannia 1879-80, passing out with three firsts and one year's seniority; present at Bombardment of Alexandria, in HMS Agincourt; promoted Lieutenant 1885, passing with five firsts and Goodenough Medal; on various stations; Captain 1903; appointed Assistant-Director Naval Intelligence Department 1904 but died the following year.
