Notes for John Gaspard Le Marchant
Had a distinguished career, and was the first Lieut.-Governor of the Royal Military Academy. He rose to be Major-General and was killed at the Battle of Salamanca, at the head of the heavy Cavalry in the charge on 22 July 1812, aged forty-nine.
