Notes for Thomas Carey
Owner of Vrangue Manor and the Maison des Freres. Through his first wife, Michelle Falla, became owner of the Cartier's Estate at St Sampsons. Sold back to Nicholas Falla and his wife, Marguerite du Four in 1758. At Vrangue, lay a small building, long ago ruined which was named Carey's Folly, from which, it was said, that Thomas used to watch his labourers at work. Died in Southampton and was buried in a double vault under the Communion table at Millbrook Church. On his tomb is the description - Here lieth the Body of Thomas Carey Esq. of the Island of Guernsey, who departed this life the 30th day of July 1780.
